Welcome to Animal and Veterinary Sciences
The University of Maine Animal and Veterinary Science curriculum is designed to provide broad biological training as well as a thorough understanding of the anatomy, breeding, diseases, genetics, management, nutrition and physiology of farm animals, avian species, and laboratory and companion animals.
Our students get an intensive, hands-on experience working with cattle and horses at the J.F. Witter Teaching & Research Center, and have a high placement rate at the most competitive veterinary schools.
As a part of the School of Food and Agriculture, Animal and Veterinary Science courses also serve as elective opportunities for students in other agricultural and life sciences, and in other colleges.
