Laurel Dorr’s

article “Training Writing Center Tutors
to Support Creative Writing Students” was published in the September 2025 edition of the Maine Council for English Language Arts Northwords journal.

Cara Morgan’s

interactive multimodal piece, Mentoring Tutors-in-Training: A Peer-Educator’s Role in Shaping Writing Center Practice was published in the Spring 2019 edition of Queen City Writers.

Lindsey Ruggiero

article, Underrepresenting Empathy in the Writing Center, was published in the Spring 2020 Issue of The Dangling Modifier’s peer consultant magazine. 

Connor Ferguson and Paisley Keene

were published in the same issue of The Dangling Modifier, a peer-reviewed journal by peer-consultants.  Check out Connor’s work titled Accessibility and Visibility in Writing Centers and Paisley’s titled What’s in a Name?

Arend Thibodeau’s

article, The Humanities Need a Better Understanding of the Human Condition, was also published.

MCELA 2024

At the 2024 Maine Council for English Language Arts, consultants Madelyn Kohr, Anna Grierson, Sydney Kraft, Liv Joan, and Chantelle Flores presented on unconventional teaching methods and how they can be utilized in the Writing Center. This was the UMaine Writing Center’s first presentation at a conference since COVID-19.
