Accessibility and inclusion: Training requirements for all users
Web accessibility has always been a requirement for UMaine websites, and ensuring your content is accessible is part of an inclusive communication strategy. This month, we share new requirements that will be expected of all users in the coming academic year.
July 1: UMS Academy training will be required of all new WordPress users
Effective July 1, staff, students and faculty may attend our WordPress trainings, but access to UMaine and UMaine Machias websites will not be granted until the UMS Academy pathway “Designing Accessible Digital Content” has been completed. This will ensure that everyone who begins working in our campus WordPress environment understands our obligations in regards to accessibility.
December 31: UMS Academy training will be required of all WordPress users annually
If you have not yet completed the Designing Accessible Digital Content pathway, you must do so before the end of the year (Dec. 31).
