Hancock
Welcome to Hancock!
Hancock “was first settled in 1766 by Philip and S. Hodgkins from Georgetown. Formed from portions of Sullivan, Trenton and Plantation No. 8, the town was incorporated by the state legislature on February 21, 1828[5] and named for John Hancock, signer of the Declaration of Independence.” (Wikipedia)
“Set on the mainland at the head of Frenchman Bay, the town of Hancock boasts unmatched views of Mount Desert Island. Traditionally a summer getaway spot for intellectual rusticators, Hancock is still a haven for vacationers. Stroll or drive along the coast at Hancock Point with its lovely summer “cottages” and sweeping views of the ocean. Be awed by the reversing falls on Taunton Bay. This astounding natural phenomenon is due to the bays mighty tides.” https://downeastacadia.com
