Direct Exchange Programs

Recommended Programs

A recommended program is run by a third party organization (USAC, CIS Abroad, ISEP, etc.) that offers a wider array of opportunities and destinations. Program providers may offer more stylized hands-on experiences for students and trips to popular sites. Travel Study Courses

Unlike most education abroad programs, travel study courses are organized by a faculty member in the University of Maine System who leads a group of students abroad. Theses are offered as winter break, spring break, or May term courses. Some are also offered as summer session courses. They are coordinated through the Office of Lifelong Learning, not the Office of International Programs.

Travel study courses are considered regular UMaine courses. They qualify for financial aid. The grades are included in the student’s cumulative GPA at UMaine.

The following universities also offer travel study courses. They are considered transfer courses and grade is NOT included in the student’s cumulative GPA at UMaine. They qualify for financial aid.
