Advising Guides

Curriculum Guide

To make your education abroad planning easier, the Office of International Programs has pre-evaluated courses for specific USAC programs so that students and advisors can see ahead of time how these courses will transfer back to UMaine.

These curriculum guides have a pre-set UMaine course equivalent (Ex: Czech Language for Daily Communication is equivalent to the UMaine Modern Languages Elective for 3 credits).

Some courses are direct equivalents to a UMaine course, and some are not; but, any of these courses can be used to substitute for degree requirements at UMaine given approval by an academic advisor.

Certain courses taken abroad may also satisfy Gen Ed. requirements. (Ex: Czech Cooking and Cuisine satisfies the Cultural Diversity Gen Ed. requirement). These Gen Eds are specified within the document.

Equivalencies listed as “in MaineStreet” are available in MaineStreet under Transfer Equivalencies Search. For more detailed program information such as cost, location, and program highlights are available on the USAC website.
