Benefits and rates are subject to state and federal requirements and Maine state approval. Company reserves the right to make any changes necessary to meet such requirements.

Graduate Assistant Health Insurance is mandatory for all graduate assistants and fellows working 20 hours a week and earning a minimum monthly stipend, unless proof of comparable insurance is provided. Graduate Assistants are not eligible for the SHIP plan described above. Coverage will be charged to student accounts. Eligible students with adequate alternative health insurance must complete an online waiver process to opt out of the plan before September 15th each year to have the charge removed.

For eligible students whose initial enrollment at the University begins with the Spring semester, spring-only health insurance will be billed. Eligible students with adequate health insurance must complete an online waiver process to opt out of the plan before January 31st each year.

Summer-only coverage is also available. Please notify the Graduate School if you would like to enroll in the Graduate Assistant Health Insurance Summer Plan.
