Bio: Katelyn Suchyta is a Project TIDES postdoctoral research associate at the Maine Center for Research in STEM Education (RiSE Center) and the College of Education and Human Development. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies and a master’s in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics education. Dr. Suchyta’s academic and professional work centers on advancing equity in education through inclusive, research-based practices. She brings over 10 years of experience in mathematics instruction, inclusive education and educational leadership, having served as a classroom teacher, math interventionist, instructional leader and learning strategist. In these roles, she has designed and delivered differentiated instruction for K-12 students with a wide range of learning profiles, including those with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autism, and other learning differences. Her pedagogical expertise and practical insight allow her to effectively bridge inclusive education with content delivery, supporting all learners in accessing rigorous mathematical thinking.
Dr. Suchyta’s dissertation focused on how school leaders implement external math programs, reflecting her broader interest in the interplay between policy, research and practice. In both her research and service, she emphasizes collaboration, data-informed decision-making, and the design of equitable systems that respond to diverse student needs. Her current work is grounded in a strong commitment to inclusive, equity-oriented education and seeks to transform mathematics learning environments.
