Bio: Jennifer (Jennie) Longo is an assistant professor of kinesiology and physical education in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Maine. She earned her B.S. in Athletic Training from Western Carolina University and her Ph.D. in Exercise Science and Nutrition from North Dakota State University, where she also completed her EMT certification and worked with local EMS. During her doctoral studies, she served as the athletic trainer for the Army ROTC at NDSU. At UMaine, Dr. Longo teaches courses in Kinesiology and Biomechanics. Her research program has two primary lines of inquiry: injury prevention in military personnel and cardiac arrest recognition and management in athletic populations, with a particular focus on equipment-intensive sports. Beyond her teaching and research, Dr. Longo is actively involved with Camp Abilities, a physical activity–based camp for children with visual impairments. She also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Sports Medicine and Allied Health Sciences.
