Building Empathy to Support Students

Because social connections are extremely important to young adolescents, trusting relationships are essential to teaching and learning in middle school! During this session we will explore the importance of empathy, its implications for our students, and effective ways to promote more positive and productive classrooms.

‘Advisory is Tricky for Me’: How to Create Connections and Foster Community

Middle school advisory is vital to student investment and engagement in school. But sustaining a robust advisory can be challenging. Join this session to consider ways to fine tune your advisory time or initiative.

Planning Place-Based Projects With Students

Middle school students are driven by their sense of justice. They yearn to be involved in finding solutions to social and environmental problems in their communities. Place-based projects promote civic engagement, creativity and critical thinking. Join this session to learn about successful place-based units and discuss tools and resources for planning projects with your students.
