AMP Course Materials
You may notice an AMP charge on your student account balance once you login to MaineStreet. This is an automated charge placed onto the account from the bookstore. AMP stands for Academic Materials Program and was put in place by the University of Maine to provide students with convenient access to all their course required materials. Look for the AMP welcome letter sent to your @maine.edu email address the week before class. To learn more about this program please navigate to the AMP Course Materials page.
As an Early College student your required course material costs are typically lower than the AMP charge. You are able to opt out of this program the week before classes begin, which will remove the automated charge from your account. Once you have opted out you will be able to buy the course material associated with your course using the “BUY NOW” link from that same page.

AMP opt out instructions
To opt out of this program and have the automated charge removed from your account:
- Navigate to your Brightspace account. You can access Brightspace from mycampus.maine.edu.
- Click on “Tools” in the navbar at the top.
- Click on AMP/Inclusive Access in the drop down menu that appears. It will bring you to the page where you can see all your assigned course materials.
- At the top right of that page, click on the button that says, “opt out”.
- After opting out, students will see a “Buy Now” button option if they would like to purchase individual textbooks.

Purchasing Textbooks
To purchase your textbooks please refer to this linked How to Find Your Textbooks document. The steps for purchasing these from the UMaine Bookstore are also listed below.
- Navigate to bookstore.umaine.edu.
- Click on “Textbooks” in the navbar at the top.
- Click on “Shop Textbooks” from the dropdown that appears.
- Select your Term (ex. Spring 2026).
- Select the department (ex. BIO or PSY).
- Select the Course number (ex. 100, 201).
- Select your course section (ex. 0001, 0400).
- Your course will be added to the list on the right.
- Continue adding all your courses and then click on begin shopping to be taken to the book listings.
