In-person event
Ferland Hall Room 337
ALCs are wonderful spaces to teach in, but it is important that you feel prepared to use the space and resources effectively. Join this orientation to teaching in an ALCs in Ferland Room 337. This is an active learning classroom in Ferland the new Engineering building, NOT Fernald, where CITL is located.
You are welcome for some or all of the session. New and experienced ALC faculty are encouraged to join!
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Identify solutions to common challenges working in ALCs.
- Become familiar with the technology, layout, and pedagogical approaches in ALCs.
- Identify different active learning strategies (e.g., individual write, gallery walk, jigsaw, and think-pair-share) and experience their implementation in an ALC classroom.
- Implement inclusive and equitable strategies for group work and discussions.
- Assess student learning with in-class activities.
