New Balance Student Recreation Center

New Balance Student Recreation Center is a fabulous addition to the recreational opportunities at the University of Maine. Found in 2007 this state of the art faciality is home to UMaine students as well as the surround community. House at the NBSRC is a variety of recreation opportunities like:
Maine Bound is a program within Campus Recreation at the University of Maine. It is based out of the Maine Bound Adventure Center. By combining recreation and education, our programs offer adventure opportunities for every lifestyle while instilling skills that are used in everyday campus life.

Bridge Tennis Courts

Eight outdoor tennis courts, with parking, are located just downhill from the Rec Center. The courts are open from dawn to 10:00p.m. Courts 1-3 will be lit from dusk to 10:00pm. Weather permitting, all 8 courts generally open some timein April/May and remain open until the end of October. Courts are open to the public on an open-play basis.
Alfond Arena is a Department of Athletics facility; Athletics and Campus Recreation simply work together to provide the Public Skate and Stick & Puck hours below. For more information about open recreation at Alfond Arena, call the recorded Skate Line at 581-1103. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER FOR INFORMATION ABOUT TICKETS FOR ATHLETIC EVENTS, please call 581-BEAR for tickets to Athletic events.
Alfond Arena Public Skating

The DeMeritt University Forest was named for Dwight B. Demeritt in 1971 in recognition of his work to procure the land for the University of Maine. Four tracts of government land near UMaine (ca. 2,000 acres) when it was acquired by lease in 1939 and then by deed in 1955. The DeMeritt University Forest has played a key role in education, research, demonstrations, and training of students. It is a haven for wildlife and members of the University community. Its 15+ miles of trails are ideal for walkers, joggers, cyclists, equestrians. During the winter months, skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts are welcome to enjoy its many trails as well. Campus Recreation maintains the trails.

Day passes can be purchased in person only. Anyone bringing a child and/or children under the age of 18 who they are NOT legally responsible for, must have the legal guardian complete a Day Liability Waiver prior to visiting the facility.

Guest passes can be purchased in person only. The student and/or employee must be present at the time of purchase and remain with their guest during the visit.

Full memberships are sold to the Primary Member. The Primary Member may, for an additional price, add their spouse / domestic partner, and their dependent children (< 25 yrs) all living in the same household. Please review our Family Policies for details on facility usage by children.

30-Day Pass: This is not a full membership and does not grant any of the full membership benefits listed above. This pass is valid for 30 days from date of purchase. This is an individuals-only* pass, available only to UMaine students who either WERE enrolled last semester (including students who just graduated) or ARE enrolled next semester, UMaine Employees who are not eligible for Vouchers, UMaine Retirees who are not eligible for Silver Sneakers, and Community Members.
* The 30-Day Pass can be sold to individuals aged 3+, but children younger than age 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Children aged 0-2 may be added for free as a secondary member.

Entitles pass holder to climb during open recreation times at the climbing tower and bouldering wall located at the Maine Bound Adventure Center. No other membership benefits or discounts are given with this pass. This is an individual pass, family members cannot be added.
