Alex Versen

Alex Versen is a Lecturer in Sport Management at the Maine Business School. He spent nearly a decade with Uber Technologies, where he helped launch the company across Florida and later led event partnerships and operations for major sports leagues and venues around the world. His work focused on how large-scale events move people and create economic activity, overseeing logistics and partnerships for events at the United Center, the Masters Tournament, the PGA Championship, and dozens of other major sports and entertainment venues.

After leaving Uber, Alex joined Nova Innovation Group, a sports and entertainment development firm, where he continues to advise on projects that connect professional sports, venue planning, and community development. He also serves as Executive Director of the Nova Foundation, a nonprofit launched under Nova that supports athlete wellness, mentorship, and transition after sport.

At UMaine, Alex’s teaching is grounded in real-world experience. He challenges students to think critically about how the business of sport operates—from the design of partnerships and facilities to the broader social and economic systems that sustain them.
