Frequently Asked Questions
Does Marching Band interfere with classes?
For the most part, no! It’s purposely scheduled later in the day to avoid as many conflicts as possible. Conflicts can also be resolved on a case by case basis with Mr. White.
Is Marching Band a class?
Yes. You enroll in the class MUO 111 for your choice of 0 or 1 credits. It can also count towards your graduation requirements, fulfilling your Gen Ed Artistic and Creative Expression requirement.
What is the time commitment like?
We rehearse 3 days a week that add up to a total of 4.5 hours of rehearsal every week. Game days can range from around 8-10 hours and they take place on several Saturday’s throughout the fall.
Do we travel a lot?
No, we only perform at home games. We have a couple events that we do most years that require travel, usually staying within the state, but that’s about it.
Do we compete?
No, we do not compete.
Is there an early camp week?
Yes. Band Camp 2024 will take place from Saturday, August 24th to Friday, August 30th. This is the week before the fall semester begins and it is full-day commitments all week.
Do we move into our dorms during Band Camp week?
Yes, more details to come on this over the summer.
