CONSULTING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Consulting and technical support services covers a broad range of research areas and project needs requiring high-performance computing, bioinformatics, and computational support. ARCSIM is pleased to offer consulting and technical assistance to help researchers (students / staff / faculty) implement softwares, workflows, and streamlined methods within their research projects. This includes navigating technical resources like high-performance computing and automated data storage pipelines.
Services vary from a brief one-on-one meeting to extended paid engagements, or inclusion in sponsored projects. If you would like to set up a consultation, please contact us at um.arcsim@maine.edu or fill out our service request form.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE
AI / ML
ARCSIM offers consulting services in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Consultants can assist researchers with libraries for different application tasks, including building language models, and discussion into tools and architectures that best fit your research needs.
Data Management
ARCSIM offers data management services to streamline the migration of datasets from data sources to their destinations. Staff can assist researchers with data storage workflows to facilitate backup and management during the research process. Our team can provide software recommendations and develop data transfer protocols to ensure data is transferred efficiently and effectively through all stages of research and analysis.
HPC
Our OSC/ACCESS Campus Champion offers high-performance and cloud computing consulting to provide users with the necessary tools, training, and support to utilize the computational resources available through ARCSIM. Staff can assist with project planning, data management, and pipeline development on HPC resources. Workshops and training sessions can also be designed for specific research needs and taught as virtual or hands-on group and lab-based sessions.
Informatics
ARCSIM offers informatics consulting with our experts who specialize in analysis across a broad range of informatic and “omic” fields of study. Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, bioinformatics, metagenomics, sequencing analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and database management. Consultants can assist researchers with workflow and pipeline development, performing data analysis, and connecting researchers with software and resources necessary for their research.
Acknowledge Scientific Computing
Scientists who publish results of research that was performed using ARCSIM resources and capabilities should include an acknowledgement in any publications that result from that work. If significant contributions are made to the results of the work(s), authorship should also be considered. This includes journal articles, presentations, reports, proceedings and book chapters. Please use the text:
“This work was supported in part through the computational resources and staff expertise provided by Advanced Research Computing, Security, and Information Management (ARCSIM) at the University of Maine at Orono.”
