September 18, 2011 Race Begins at 12:00pm @ the New Balance Student Fitness and Recreation Center

The race will begin at the New Balance Student Recreation and Fitness Center. Waves of 50 people will be sent out every 15 minutes. The race course will be throughout the UMaine wood trails behind the Rec. Center. On various spots on the the course there will be adventure challenges and obstacles. These can include but are not limited to: wall climbs, mud crawls, balance walks, tire obstacles, etc.  The race will be timed using a chip timing system. All participants must sign a waiver and be at least 14 years of age. The Black Bear Attack Adventure Race is the kick off to Safety Week at the University of Maine. Please expect to get down and dirty so wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Registration: Participants can register online at RaceWire . Participants are also able to mail or turn in a registration form to the Alcohol and Drug Education Programs Office, 235 Memorial Union, Orono Maine 04469. Checks can be made payable to the University of Maine.

Directions: Race will be begin and end at the New Balance Student Fitness and Recreation Center, driving directions and a  campus map can be found at http://umaine.edu/locator/.

FAQ:

Packet Pick-up?

You will pick up your race packet with your race bib and chip timer after you turn your waiver in the day of the race. Packet pick-up will begin at 10:00 am.

How do the race waves work?

The first 50 people will start the race at 12:00pm, the waves will continue in 50 person increments every 15 minutes, until all participants have gone.

What to bring?

Please wear appropriate footware, YOU WILL GET DIRTY! so wear clothing you do not mind getting dirty,  a fierce attitude, and a smile!

Black Bear Fuel?

There will be a water station on the course and food and drinks available for Attackers at the end of the race.

Awards? 

There will be awards for the overall winner, and the best costume group/individual (costume winner will be determined by race officials).

What’s in it for me?

The race is capped at 250 participants and all 250 attackers will get a goodie bag as well as a Black Bear Attack Adventure Race T-Shirt. There will be food, drinks and music at the end of the race.
