Mission Statement
The mission of The Bodwell Center for Service and Volunteerism, is to create civic mindedness by building an engaged campus through the promotion of service learning and volunteerism to students, faculty and staff in order to strengthen our local, national and global communities.

We offer many ways for students to get involved. We run programs, such as blood drives and a youth mentoring program, that students can sign up to participate in. We also work with the local community to advertise events and activities that students can help out with as they choose. Get more information here!

One of the programs hosted by the Bodwell Center is the Black Bear Exchange, the on-campus food pantry and clothing exchange. Visit our page for more information about this great resource!
Since 2003 UMaine students have been mentoring youth in grades 3-8 at local schools. This is a Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, and students commit to less than 2 hours per week. This is a great way to make a difference in the life of child. Visit our page for a link to the Mentor application or to submit an application for your child to be in the program.

these programs are possible thanks to donations.
Link will bring you to the UMaine Student Life Donation Page where you can designate the Bodwell Center and/or one of our programs specifically.

where are we?
The Bodwell Center and the Black Bear Exchange are located in The CAVE at UCU, 139 Rangeley Road. Our parking lot and the entrance to our spaces are at the back of the building. Come visit!
need documentation?
Sometimes students need documentation of their service hours to report to someone. We have a few different Service Hours Tracking Sheets for you to print and bring with you. Have the person organizing your event sign to verify your hours. Then bring (or email) the form to the Bodwell Center so we can approve it for you.
