    • This park is a great picnic spot because of its scenic location on the Aroostook River, covered picnic tables, charcoal grills, and adjacent playground.

Downeast Maine

  • Castine Baseball Fields Wadsworth Cove Rd, Castine, ME 04421
    • The Castine Baseball Fields are located within Fort George Park, which was once Fort George. A fun little side activity if you want to get some exercise and enjoy the fresh air!

    • Part of Castine Golf Club, the Castine Tennis Courts are open to the public and allow people of all ages to enjoy the wonderful sport of tennis. Lessons are available if you book ahead of time and are held between the middle of June and Labor Day.
  • Horton Emerson Park Water St, Blue Hill, ME 04614
    • Featuring a sculpture by Japanese artist Nitoshi Tanaka, this “pocket park” was designed to add more green space to the center of Blue Hill.

    • This property was used for centuries by settlers for salt hay production and raising cattle. In 2013, it was developed into a public space with over 2 miles of hiking trails and a wide variety of habitat perspectives.

    • Farmer and chef have teamed up and created the wonderful Wild Blueberry Land in 2001! Dell and Marie Emerson have built up quite the destination here in Columbia Falls, offering a unique architectural marvel and a blueberry museum and shop that features delicious blueberry sweets.

Western Maine

    • This public playground and park are great places to stretch your legs and get some sunshine! The park has a great view of Wilson Lake, and hosts live music events in the summer.
  • Bradley Park 479 Main St, Fryeburg, ME 04037
    • This lovely park is located downtown in Fryeburg and hosts free concerts in the summer. Stop here for some fresh air or a picnic! The historic Marion Parsons House is also located just across the street.

    • This public park, maintained by the Town of Wilton, is an excellent place for a family picnic, with its public beach on Wilson Lake, sports fields, cookout area, playground, and walking trails.

    • This public park, maintained by the Town of Norway, offers a beach and boat launch, volleyball and basketball courts, and a great playground and picnic area right alongside Lake Pennesseewassee!
  • Maggie’s Nature Park 290 Greenwood Rd, Greenwood, ME 04255
    • This 3.2-mile trail network offers an easy-to-moderate forested hike with several beautiful scenic viewpoints.
  • McLaughlin Garden & Homestead 97 Main St, South Paris, ME 04281 | (207) 743-8820
    • This historic garden is one of Maine’s most beloved public gardens. For over 80 years, the garden has offered a quiet place to visit and appreciate a wide variety of interesting native and imported plants and flowers. Nowadays, the garden also offers events, classes, and plant sales, which are not-to-be-missed!

    • This spacious town park offers grilling sites and access to the Swift River. Stop here for the perfect family picnic spot!

    • This park is located on the lovely Pine Island in the middle of the Androscoggin River. The park offers short trails with great river views, a boat put-in, and a picnic area.

    • This roadside rest area offers views of a beautiful waterfall and a small hiking trail.
