Wade
Welcome to Wade!
The small town of Wade was first settled in 1846, became a plantation in 1874, and was incorporated as a town in 1913. Formerly known as Dunntown, the origin of its current name is unknown. Unlike many neighboring towns, Wade’s growth was not driven by the lumber industry. It’s relatively untouched forests are likely a factor in areas of the Wade being recognized as one of Maine’s Focus Areas of Statewide Ecological Significance. (Source) Agriculture continues to be the main economic activity in Wade and its farmland, rolling hills, and access to the Aroostook River make it a wonderful place to visit.

Activities
- Bangor and Aroostook Trail Wade, Maine 04786
- This trail passes through Wade between Washburn and Perham. The 61-mile multi-use trail is part of northern Maine’s Interconnected Trail System. It is used and maintained by various snowmobile clubs in the winter, and by bicyclists and hikers in the summer.
