Apple Cake
Fall is when apples are abundant in Maine. This apple cake is delicious anytime, but at Thanksgiving, it is something for dessert to make ahead of the feast! It uses the classic Bundt pan, making it easy to portion and beautiful to present.
Shelly’s Apple Cake – Etta Bryant, MASP
Ingredients
- 5 cups sliced apples
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup oil
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. baking powder
Directions
Blend together apples, sugar, and cinnamon; set aside. In mixing bowl, mix eggs, oil, orange juice, sugar, and vanilla. Blend in flour, soda, salt and powder, then add add apple mixture.
Grease and flour Bundt pan; pour in. Bake at 350 Fahrenheit (175 Celsius) for 1 hour. Let cake cool in pan 5 to 10 minutes, then remove.
