Upward Bound recruits students from 13 different target high schools. Learn if your high school is a target school below!

What is a target school?

Each 5-year grant cycle, Upward Bound works with community partners to determine high school partners. Target schools are within Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Hancock counties, with the exception of one school in Cumberland county. Upward Bound only recruits students currently in attendance at a target high school, or homeschool students in the attendance area of a target school. Students who join Upward Bound are ‘participants’, and will be eligible for program services until their high school graduation.

Can i be in both upward bound programs?

When a student enrolls in Upward Bound, they will be either an Upward Bound student, or an Upward Bound Math-Science student. Students can NOT be in both programs. Though both programs have similar services, Math-Science students are encouraged to participate in more STEM learning opportunities. However, a school can have BOTH programs present, it would be up to the student as well as the program to determine which program the student is in.
