Next steps

The Accept/Decline Awards link in the MaineStreet Student Center contains important next steps, explained below.

Living on campus, off campus, or with parents is based on the information reported on your admissions application and may impact your aid eligibility. Be sure to report any changes in MaineStreet.

Completing the Scholarship Donor Release of Information allows us to connect potential scholarship donors with students.

Outside aid, including scholarships, waivers, and other resources must be reported, as they may impact financial aid eligibility.
– If you have scholarship award letters, submit them via Secure Upload.
– If you do not have scholarship award letters, report the scholarships in MaineStreet.

In order to receive loans, students must complete the FAFSA and accept their loans in MaineStreet every year. First-time borrowers at UMaine must also complete their MPN and Entrance Counseling.

Master Promissory Note (MPN)

In order to borrow Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Student Loans, first-time student borrowers at UMaine must complete a loan agreement, or Master Promissory Note (MPN).

Loan Entrance Counseling

First-time student borrowers at UMaine must complete Loan Entrance Counseling, which outlines what a loan is, how interest works, and options for repayment.

anticipated resources

If you are receiving additional resources that may not arrive by the billing deadline (August 15 for the fall, January 15 for the spring), such as employer/third party payments, college savings plans, additional loans, or Veteran’s benefits, be sure to report them in order to avoid late fees.
