Student Opportunities

OSNA is a student-run organization which engages students in community service projects, fosters professional development through informative programs, promotes leadership in state and national health care forums, and provides peer mentorship for nursing students.

Qualified nursing students may enjoy the challenge of dual enrollment in the Honor’s College or of adding an academic major or minor in another field of interest.

With advance planning and academic advisement, nursing students are able to fit the UMaine Study Abroad program into the BSN program of study

In partnership with International Service Learning, a nonprofit organization, this optional health and service learning international experience is open to all nursing students and is facilitated by UMaine nursing faculty.

Academically qualified nursing students are invited to join Omicron Xi Chapter-at-Large of Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing.

The Army and the Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) prepare students for a nursing career in the U.S. military. ROTC nursing students are offered outstanding summer preceptorships in U.S. military hospitals. Upon completion of the BSN, the Army ROTC graduate is commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and the Navy ROTC graduate is commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy.
