Land acknowledgement
The Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Stations are located in the homeland of the Wabanaki Alliance (Maliseet, Mi’kmaq, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot Nations). The Wabanaki Alliance has distinct, sovereign, legal and political entities with their own powers of self-governance and self-determination. Issues of water and territorial rights, and encroachment upon sacred sites, are ongoing.
