Apostille for UMaine Diploma or UMaine Transcript

An Apostille is a form of authentication which is accepted by countries which have consented to be bound by the 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirements of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents.
Most often students require an authenticated diploma for their home government or other organization abroad.
If you need an Apostille, please follow these steps:
  1. Follow the instructions on the Office of Student Records website here to request a replacement diploma and/or transcript and request they be sent to Jack Campbell at the Office of Student Records at UMaine. Be sure to inform Student Records (umrecords@maine.edu) that you need the diploma/transcript notarized for an Apostille.
  2.  Make two payments for FedEx shipping using the OIP website. The first should be “domestic” ($18) to ship the notarized diploma via FedEx to Augusta. The second payment is to ship the documents back to you after the Apostille is processed.  The second payment would be another $18 if shipping domestically, or $35 if shipping internationally.
  3. Send an email to our office: umaineimmigration@maine.edu and attach shipping payment receipts and indicate you are requesting assistance with the Apostille process.
  4. We will contact you for further information to complete the process.

Once the notarized diploma/transcript and any other required documents and/or payments are received, we will begin the process and provide the FedEx tracking numbers via email so you can track both shipments.
