Virtual Archaeology Day 2022

April 1, 2022

This web-based program will take students on a tour of Hudson Museum collections and Anthropology Department Labs. Learn about UMaine research related to shell middens and efforts to document and preserve them, explore archaeological collections from Maine to Mesoamerica, and meet UMaine faculty, staff and graduate students who will talk about their research and how it informs our understanding of the past. Video presentations will be published as a playlist on April 1st for use in the classroom for the remainder of the school year. Virtual Archaeology Day is geared towards middle school students. However, all K-12 students are welcomed and encouraged to participate.

Our favorite part of Archaeology Day every year is the amazing questions the students always have for us.  In that spirit, this year we are planning a virtual Ask an Archaeologist program as well. Please note, space in the Ask an Archaeologist program is limited. Please contact elliot.bowen@maine.edu for more information.

You can download an event flyer here.

Please contact Elliot Bowen at elliot.bowen@maine.edu with any questions.
