Home Country: United States
Degree Program(s): Master of Science, Food Science and Human Nutrition
Role in Graduate Student Government: Grants Officer
Reason behind joining the GSG as an officer: I joined GSG to support graduate projects with an inspired collective of students as I finish my second master’s degree.
As an officer in the GSG, how would you like to contribute in such a way that you improve the situation for graduate students?: Since funding is integral to research, I intend to help graduate students gain their footing with grant writing and funding opportunities.
Long-Term Career Goals: I’m a career changer with 15 years of digital communications experience. Upon completion of my MS degree, I plan to support sustainable food systems, planetary health projects and nutritional science research that benefits public health.
Research at UMaine: My studies focus on human nutrition, sustainable food systems and restorative aquaculture
Involvement in clubs and other organizations: Volunteer with Hawaiʻi Children’s Action Network, Hawaiʻi Food Help and a local community food pantry
Hobbies: Road-tripping with my tiny pup, enjoying underground performance art or food experiences, collecting rocks, hiking bluffs and visiting farmers’ markets
