Greetings from the Frontier Institute for Research for Sensor Technologies (FIRST).
Our Vision is to provide a world-class resource for the realization of cutting-edge sensor systems in providing solutions for societal advancement and economic wellbeing.
Our Mission is to develop and implement innovative research and education programs for addressing grand challenges in energy, health, and environment.
Our Core Strength lies in our team of internationally recognized experts, coupled with world-class facilities and scientific personnel, dedicated to basic and applied research, industry-specific solutions and education in the fields of advanced materials, devices and sensor technologies.
Our Faculty represents a mix of academic departments: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chemical & Biomedical Engineering, Physics, and Chemistry, and have a long history of collaboration across different universities, federal laboratories, industry and international organizations.
Our Strategic Goals include expansion of interdisciplinary collaboration and convergent team-building to address societal challenges of the 21st century. We are therefore open to new partnerships with groups and organizations who can benefit from our core strengths and infrastructure.
