CCAR Welcomes UMO Class of 2021

UMaine BIO 100 students listen to CCAR Director, Steve Eddy, talk about the history of the Center

Classes start Monday, but that didn’t stop 40 UMO freshman from getting a head start in exploring all that UMaine has to offer when it comes to aquaculture science and research. The students, led by Dr. Farahad Dastoor, School of Biology & Ecology, spent two nights at Schoodic Institute as an orientation for their upcoming BIO 100 class. With interests ranging from marine science and zoology to medical laboratory sciences, the students were eager to learn about the CCAR and how their interests unexpectedly overlap with aquaculture’s broad scope.

The freshman are now headed to Orono, eager to unpack and settle into their dorm rooms and try out their new meal plans. All of us at CCAR wish them the best in their upcoming academic pursuits!
