Purpose

This position reports to the Coordinator of Youth Programs and the Assistant
Director of Youth Programs to assist in the administration of all aspects of youth programs with
The Town of Orono. This includes, but is not limited to, day-to-day planning and organization; training and supervising student employees; developing and scheduling programs; planning activities for
the Afterschool Program (K-5), supervision of Youth Sports; and assisting with equipment and
supply purchases. Primarily responsible for the coordination, administration, and supervision of the after-school activity program, youth sports, and camps program. The RAD Supervisor will be responsible for the training, evaluation, and supervision of youth program staff.

Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Day-to-day planning and organization;
  • Training and supervising student employees;
  • Developing and scheduling of programs;
  • Planning activities for the Afterschool Program (K-5),
  • Supervision of Youth Sports
  • Assisting with equipment and supply purchases.
  • Examine facilities for safety hazards
  • Other Duties as assigned

Job Requirements

All successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Currently enrolled student at UMaine
  • 1-2 years of experience working with youth in a camp, academic, or related setting
  • Ability to work along and with student employees.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Standard CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Compulsory Childcare background checks for the State of Maine will be required upon hire

Pay Level: $16.15
* Work Study / Work Merit: Work Study – Optional

Time Commitment: Depends on the candidate
Minimum Shift: 3 hours
Shift Days/Times: Weekday Afternoons (Monday – Friday)
