Starting: Academic Year begins in August 26-27

Purpose

The Club Sports Assistant is responsible for the safety and compliance of Club Sport teams and the enforcement of Club Sport policies and procedures. The Club Sport Assistant provides excellent customer service to UMaine students/faculty/staff through support in meeting club requirements, scheduling, conflict resolution, media opportunities, and recruitment support. This position will work alongside the Director of Club Sports to ensure club sport compliance.

Learning Practices:

Through employment in Campus Recreation, the Club Sports Assistant will: 

  • Develop transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, time management, organization, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and decision-making. 
  • Be able to articulate the value of recreation & teamwork in the overall college student experience. 
  • Be able to advocate to other students the benefits of participation in club sports

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check in with club members/officers prior to practices and home events to ensure eligibility of participation.
  • Frequently create and schedule emails to maintain up-to-date correspondence with all clubs.
  • Support of scheduling efforts for club sports.
  • Organize, audit and maintain up to date records for the clubs.
  • Adhere to safety and risk management policies, ensuring participant safety, with site supervision as necessary.
  • Maintain club sports equipment and facilities.
  • Promote all clubs and programs through frequent and creative updates to UMaine Club Sports media platforms.
  •  Maintain a working knowledge of all Campus Recreation programs and services.
  • Foster strong partnerships with other members of the Club Sports team, as well as colleagues throughout Campus Recreation and UMaine Media outlets (University of Maine, Maine Campus), acting as a liaison between student athletes and administrative offices.
  •  Deliver quality customer service to all patrons, program participants, and visitors.
  •  Attend and present at all Club Sports team meetings and trainings.
  •  Other duties and projects as assigned.

Position Type – Pay Level I: $15.45

  • Work Study / Work Merit: Work Study Optional

Time Commitment: Flexible with occasional nights and weekends

Supervisory Responsibilities: Games possible
