The Office of Student Financial Aid administers various federal, state and university aid programs to help University of Maine students finance their education. We award and process financial aid for students and advise students and their families, the campus community and the general public on issues related to financial aid.
A student’s financial aid award is based on the assumption that they will be enrolled in 15 credits per semester. Starting with the 2016-2017 academic year, some types of aid will be prorated if the student is enrolled in less than 15 credits. Award prorations will be based on enrollment levels of: 12-14, 9-11, and 6-8 credits.
If a student is subject to aid proration, the remaining portions of certain types of aid may be used towards tuition and fees for Summer 2017 courses. Contact the financial aid office for more information when summer registration begins.
Students should report their intended enrollment through Accept/Decline Awards on their MaineStreet Student Center.
