Black Bear Tutors provides several options for K-12 tutoring at the following schools: Old Town Elementary, Leonard Middle, and Lewis Libby School.

In-Class Assistant: Partnered with an individual teacher, a Black Bear Tutor acts as a teaching assistant and provides individual and small group support during classroom and study hall periods.

Homework Help Club: Lewis Libby School hosts an afterschool homework club run by our tutors one afternoon per week. Please talk to your student’s school counselor for more information.

Tutors will meet with your student for at least one, hour-long session each week, via a virtual platform which works best for both the student and the tutor. Students will be matched with tutors from University of Maine based on a variety of criteria including tutor expertise, student needs, scheduling availability, and the preferred grade-level as specified by the tutor.
