Predictors and Impacts of Haemosporidian Parasite Infections in Barn Owls (Typo alba)
Mentored by Pauline Kamath
Shannon O’Grady studies the effects of blood parasite infections in barn owls by examining the relationships between haemosporidian infection intensities and reproductive success in individual barn owls (Typo alba).
“Getting better insight as to how different diseases affect animals is beneficial for me,” says O’Grady. “Barn owls are an ideal system for examining the predictors and impacts of chronic haemosporidian parasite infections on population reproductive health.”
