Sahvannah Michaud, Psychology
Emerging Neuroimaging Technology in Category Learning Research
Mentored by Shawn Ell
Sahvannah Michaud is studying the neural processes involved in learning and memory through examination of blood flow, volume, and oxygenation using a fNIRS device. This will assess frontal brain regions using neuroimaging technology. She is collecting data on the performance of participants in order to monitor their neural processes. Neuroimaging is expensive and restrictive, and Michaud hopes to perform more research so that she can further contribute to her community and the scientific community.
“It has always fascinated me how little we seem to know about the brain and the mind; it excites me to think I may unravel some of the mystery that is us,” says Michaud.
