The information on this page is designed to help you understand and prepare for the financial part of your exchange to the University of Maine.

EXPENSES

  • Covered by the Exchange Program each semester:

  • Incoming exchange students are responsible for the following each semester:

  • The American University of Bulgaria and George Mitchell Peace Scholar exchange students:
  • One Semester = $2,925
  • Academic Year = $5,300

Breakdown of costs

The incoming exchange student costs are broken down into the following categories:

  • Housing
  • $3,734/semester for a standard double room. Students pay an additional $1,000 for a single room.
  • Meals*
  • $3,582/semester. Meal plan costs vary by plan and housing type.
  • Health Insurance*
  • $1,909 for a semester
  • $3,286 for the academic year.
  • Textbooks/Supplied/Personal
  • $1,000/semester
  • Orientation*
  • Black Bear Bridge Week (Fall Orientation): $450
  • Spring orientation: No bill for meals

*Students who have health insurance from their home country must request to waive the UMaine health insurance otherwise they will be charged.

*New international students participate in mandatory orientation before each semester starts. The fee for Black Bear Bridge Week is waived for students in the exchange program. Students living on campus are charged about $27 per day for meals in the fall.
