Winter and Summer Aid

Winter Session

Eligibility for Winter Term financial aid is included as part of Spring aid eligibility, and winter courses are billed at the same rate as spring courses. Spring aid does not disburse until the week prior to the first day of Spring Classes, so it is important that students planning on taking Winter Term courses have a financial plan to purchase books and other course supplies.

Summer University

Summer University is considered a separate semester at UMaine, and comes at the end of the academic year. It is not considered part of the upcoming fall semester.

Summer University is billed at the same rate as courses during the academic year.

In order to be eligible for any federal financial aid for the summer, you must have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year (e.g. the 2025-26 FAFSA for Summer 2026).

Summer bills

Payment of your summer bill for each class is due on May 15th to avoid late fees.

More information on payment options, including payment plans, is available online

If you are receiving assistance that is not reflected in your MaineStreet account (e.g. assistance from an employer, a 529 payment, or other outside aid), complete Anticipated Resources on your MaineStreet. You are expected to pay the difference between your bill and your anticipated aid by the due date to avoid late fees.
