2025-2026 FAFSA Information
December 1, 2024: Students can file the 2025-2026 FAFSA.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by going to www.studentaid.gov
- FAFSA Contributors are anyone who needs to provide information, consent, and approval on the FAFSA: the student, the student’s spouse, a biological or adoptive parent, and the parent’s spouse.
- All FAFSA contributors will need an FSA ID from the Department of Education in order to electronically sign the FAFSA.

- The University of Maine’s School Code is 002053.
- Remember: Students and Parents should never pay to file a FAFSA.
January 2025: The Office of Student Financial Services expects to begin sending 2025-2026 financial aid offers.
March 1, 2025: The University of Maine’s priority filing deadline for first-year applicants and continuing students. First-year applicants must file the FAFSA by March 1st to be considered for the maximum possible financial aid eligibility.
May 1, 2025: Deadline to submit additional documents/information, if required.
- Students and/or FAFSA contributors may be required to provide the Office of Student Financial Services with additional documentation to verify data provided on FAFSA.
- Specific verification requests and instructions will be available to students on their MaineStreet To-Do list.

June 1, 2025: The University of Maine’s priority filing deadline for transfer applicants.
- Transfer applicants must file their FAFSA by June 1st to be considered for the maximum possible financial aid eligibility.
July 1, 2025: Transfer applicant deadline to submit requested verification documents to the Office of Student Financial Services.
