Christina Milletti and Dimitri Anastasopoulos Reading / November 2, 2006

Event Report

On Thursday, November 2, 2006, fiction writers Christina Milletti and Dimitri Anastasopoulos read to an audience of about thirty-five people in the UMaine New Writing Series. Milletti read “Amelia Earhart’s Last Transmission,” the closing story in The Religious and Other Fictions. Anastasopoulos read “Signs of Intrauterine Life.” The two writers afterward entertained questions and talked about writing as an organic process, writerly intentionality, scientific accounts of childbirth, being new parents, the “disappearing women” in Milletti’s collection, the status of religion in Milletti’s work, and the relationship of fiction to non-fiction.
