Call for Members: UMaine School of Nursing External Advisory Board

UMaine School of Nursing is excited to invite passionate individuals to join our External Advisory Board. As an advisory board member, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing education and research at UMaine, while contributing to the overall success and advancement of our school.

We are specifically seeking external communities of interest from the following clinical areas:

  • Focus on promoting physical and mental health in all patients
  • Management of minor acute and intermittent care needs of generally healthy patients
  • Expertise in managing chronic diseases and preventing negative sequelae
  • Proficiency in critical/trauma care, complex acute care, and treatment of physiologically unstable patients requiring care in a mega-acute care institution
  • Knowledge and experience in end-of-life care, palliative and supportive care
  • Expertise in extended care for individuals with complex, chronic disease states or requiring rehabilitative care

In addition to these clinical areas, we are also seeking communities of interest with expertise in the following:

Individuals experienced in healthcare systems and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Professionals knowledgeable in leveraging technology and informatics for healthcare improvement.

Individuals with expertise in clinical instruction and serving as preceptors for nursing students.

Representatives from healthcare organizations interested in the advancement of nursing education and practice.

Individuals who can provide insights and perspectives on healthcare disparities and equity.

UMaine Nursing graduates who are passionate about giving back and contributing to the growth of the program.

By joining the UMaine School of Nursing External Advisory Board, you will have the opportunity to influence curriculum development, provide industry insights, support strategic planning, and contribute to the ongoing success of our students and faculty. We anticipate 2-3 meetings annually.
