Faith’s presentation will cover the Maine Food Loss and Waste Generation Study published in 2024 that quantified food loss and waste production across various sectors. The research was conducted by Resource Recycling Systems (RRS), the Senator George J. Mitchell Center for Sustainability Solutions at the University of Maine, and the Center for EcoTechnology, with support from the Maine Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future and funding from the EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant program. The study aimed to provide insights to inform strategic approaches to address food loss and waste as well as guide future research into suitable infrastructure enhancements.
