Seminar – Nishanta Rajakaruna

February 13, 2015 @ 3:10 pm - 4:00 pm

Serpentine: Evolutionary Ecology of a Model System
Dr. Nishanta Rajakaruna, College of the Atlantic

Serpentine habitats are home to many rare and endemic species, providing model settings for studies in ecology, evolution, and conservation. The presentation summarizes current research on serpentine plant-habitat relations in North America and explores how adaptation to serpentine and other extreme edaphic settings has set the stage for population differentiation and speciation in the California flora
