Eric Dyer, Town of Readfield

Eric Dyer

The Readfield Transfer Station offers a complete organics program for residents of the three towns it serves. Food composting is the newest component and supplements the management and utilization of brown and green waste streams. Food composting at the facility came about through the financial support and technical guidance of the Mitchell Center and Maine DEP and has evolved over the past few years to fit the unique needs of the community. Notably the program supports both on-site food composting and backyard composting efforts.  Compost produced at the facility is provided free to residents and free in limited quantities to local businesses. Currently the Town is working in collaboration with a local elementary school to support their composting efforts and perhaps expand to other facilities in the RSU.

Eric Dyer has served in municipal government for over 17 years, with close to 10 in his current position as Manager for the Town of Readfield, Maine.  Eric studied Natural Resource Economics and Policy at the University of Maine and has a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California, Irvine.  Eric is a board member of the Maine Resource Recovery Association and President of the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments.  Eric’s professional commitments include advocating for good governance, strengthen regional collaboration, and improving municipal waste management.
