Appendix IV: Alignment with Maine’s Targeted Technology Sectors
This plan supports and advances the targeted technology sectors that have guided Maine’s R&D investments since state policymakers approved them in 1999. The “heritage industries” of agriculture, aquaculture and marine fisheries, and forestry and forest products correspond directly to individual target sectors. The “high-growth target sectors” combine elements of multiple sectors in new and creative ways. In doing so, they build on Maine’s historical comparative advantages to create new opportunities across multiple industries. For each priority area of this plan, below shows which of Maine’s targeted technology sectors it most actively supports.
