Staff spotlight: Mack
Meet our Maine bounder Mackenzie Connor! Mack is a Sophomore studying Ecology and Environmental Science with a concentration in Sustainability, Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Management, and a Minor in Outdoor Leadership! She’s been working for Maine Bound for about a year and a half now. Before her first semester in fall 2018, She went on the North Woods Adventure OPTIONS orientation with her roommate, and from there her love of outdoor recreation and desire to gain more knowledge and become an instructor grew. Mack likes staying busy at Maine Bound: on top of working the desk and the climbing wall, she’s currently training to be the Gear and Rentals Manager, she earned her CWI with Maine Bound, she got he WFR last winter, she works the challenge course and after school program, she leads trips, and is also an OPTIONS summer trip leader.
She says that she loves Maine Bound because “it allows unlimited opportunities to learn, grow, and share knowledge and experience with others. It gives not only myself, but the entire community it encompasses, a chance to find themselves in a way that is frankly unparalleled to any other.” In her free time, Mack likes to Climb, ski, run, kayak, paddleboard, canoe, yoga, plant, backpack, and make bean earrings! She also worked for a wildlife rehabilitation center back at home. After school, Mack hopes to save up some money in Maine for a bit with a job that combines both Environmental Science and Outdoor Recreation and eventually travel and climb around the country.
