Juria Toramae

Juria is the Technology Business Development Associate for the Office of Strategic Partnerships,
Innovation, Resources, and Engagement (SPIRE) at the University of Maine. In this capacity, she
offers strategic advice and support in patent prosecution and management, as well as
technology transfer and commercialization initiatives. Her role entails closely collaborating with
the university’s inventors and the SPIRE team to translate innovative ideas into real-world
applications.

Before joining SPIRE, Juria served at an IP boutique firm in Singapore, where her focus
encompassed patent prosecution, counseling, and portfolio management across mechanical,
electrical, and computer technologies. During her tenure there, she worked with clients and
foreign counsels from major IP jurisdictions on patent prosecution strategies in Asia with a
global perspective. Prior to her role in Singapore, Juria gained significant experience at another
IP firm in Malaysia, specializing in drafting patent applications in biotechnology, electrical, and
computer technologies.

With over 15 years of dedicated experience in patent prosecution and management, Juria
brings extensive expertise and insights to her current role. Her academic background includes a
bachelor’s degree in biochemical engineering, a graduate certificate in intellectual property law,
and a master’s degree in Southeast Asian studies from the National University of Singapore.
Juria is a registered patent agent admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark
Office.
