Bill is a graduate of the University of Maine where he majored in Wildlife Biology and Ecology and a 2013 Traditional Arts Fellow award winner from the Maine Arts Commission. For the last 35 years he has traveled throughout the Northeast, Northern Canada, Labrador, the Yukon, and the Gaspe documenting indigenous snowshoe traditions. He collected examples of each snowshoe maker’s work, amassing a collection of over 200 pairs. His knowledge and efforts to document the tradition are unparalleled. Bill will bring examples from his collection as well as talk about snowshoes from the Hudson’s holdings.
