Ben Caldwell, EES Student Ambassador
Concentration: Sustainability, natural resource management, and environmental policy
Why did you choose UMaine and the EES program:
I chose UMaine for all the research being done on campus that I could get to be part of. I chose EES for my love for the outdoors and wanting to make a difference in the world.
Best hands on experience and why:
My best hands on experience is being a research assistant under Dr. Gerbi and Dr. Campbell, where I look through and data analysis Lidar data of glaciers in Alaska.
Favorite class at UMaine and why:
ERS 201 was my favorite course due to understanding of carbon and how it works within many different systems like the ocean, soil, glaciers, etc.
Wisdom for incoming students:
My main thing for students to do is being ok to ask for help. Classes are hard but it will overwhelm you if you don’t keep on top of it.
