Hot Prices on Cool Products!

The freezer program at the University of Maine allows researchers to purchase reagents and supplies from a number of vendors at reduced prices.

Items that we have in stock can typically be picked up within one business day of submitting an order.  Investigators may also order items from our vendors that we do not carry in stock.  While some vendors may not offer discounts on items we do not carry on-site, most vendors ship their products free of charge when ordered through the program. Please allow 7-10 business days for order and delivery of non-pre stocked items.

Use the menu bar above to browse our vendors and see the lists of the discounted items we carry in stock.

FY26 Changes – The CORE Freezer Program no longer places orders for Promega or BioRad as there are no cost-savings to be passed on to the end user. Items can be ordered from these vendors at the Departmental or Lab level as appropriate.

Effective July 1, 2025, the CORE Freezer Program charges a 5% service fee on all orders. This fee is intended to help offset the unsubsidized administrative costs associated with operating the program. The 5% service fee is applied to the pre-discount product order total not inclusive of shipping & handling.

The Freezer Program continues to provide significant value to the University, offering substantial discounts and free shipping that result in thousands of dollars in annual savings. While the 5% service fee will not fully cover administrative costs, it will help bridge the gap for the portion that is not subsidized.

What’s changing?

Clients are encouraged to submit orders through iLab. The Freezer program is a service under the DNA Sequencing Lab and all information, including forms and chartfields, can be uploaded or input into iLab. Select the “Request Services” tab in the DNA Sequencing iLab site and then choose Freezer Program from the Service List. Ordering forms are inbedded in the iLab site.

If you are still navigating iLab and would like to place an order via email, simply fill out the appropriate order form and send the form to us as an email attachment at dnaseq@maine.edu.  We’ll place the order and let you know when the items are available for pick-up. Please note that this form of ordering will be going away January 1, 2026. After that date, all orders will be placed via the iLab system.

Products will still be directly charged to the chartfield provided on the order form. A monthly invoice reflecting the 5% service fee will be sent via iLab to the Principal Investigators (PIs) and/or financial managers. Order details will be included on the iLab invoice for reference.

The service fee will be charged to account code 60140 (University Service Center Expense) and billed to the chartfield used for the product order.

We appreciate your continued support of the CORE Freezer Program. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns.
